This weekend I had the honor of hosting some amazing women for a morning of pampering, photography, laughter, storytelling, and purpose at our first exclusive Every. Sweat. Matters. photoshoot.
First a little background. Every. Sweat. Matters. was the hashtag I used throughout my cancer treatments. Inspired by the story of Stuart Scott, ESPN reporter and fellow fighter, I started sweating before and after chemo as a way of one-upping the whole cancer thing. Without much thought, I started to share my workouts on social media. And day by day, the #everysweatmatters started to impact others. I started to see others sweating for something bigger. I started to see the hashtag more and more, and I found it comforting, a God given gift of hope.

3 years later, I still battle cancer, but I do it as a co-founder of ESM. I am now over 2 years in remission from stage 4 hodgkin’s lymphoma. So when I battle- I do it through fundraising. I do it through prayer. I do it by spreading awareness. I do it by sweating for those who can’t. You see, #ESM has allowed the army to fundraise over $70,000 for cancer research. #ESM has allowed our army to raise $10,000 for The Finley Project.
#ESM is no longer just “my” thing. And I assure you, we are just getting warmed up.

The mission belongs to EVERYONE and ANYONE who carries the burden, and needs help with the load. ESM is about taking all the baggage you carry and dropping it at the gym. It’s about sweating for clarity, for confidence, for those who can’t sweat. There’s an army of people who will help you carry whatever it is that you sweat for.

Why does this matter to me? Because once upon a time when I was too weak to sweat, you so kindly sweat for me.
Along with the photography, we included a videographer to capture the morning as well as the stories of some of our army members. A few of our army members will have stories featured on our website. The video will be our mission statement launching later this month.

Along with the coming website will be new products and more stories of hope, of sweat, or survival. This is our little corner of mustard seed faith. It’s a place we gratefully and purposefully will share with others.
With all transparency, I can tell you that #ESM is His work. Through some of my darkest hours, I had this feeling in my heart of complete trust. And to be honest, more than once I tried to drop the #ESM mission. It scared me. And every time. Every time. I was called back. I think because I am simply the messenger now. Every. Sweat. Matters. is so much more than the hashtag it was a couple of years ago. It’s become a movement.
And every once in awhile, movement, sweat, is all that we can do.
With mustard seed faith, we believe firmly in our mission. We believe every sweat matters. We believe sweat is more than calories burned. It’s about confidence and clarity that can be gained.
With the business growing, impacting more people and encouraging others to find a bigger reason to sweat, we continue to ground ourselves on this simple idea: We will ALWAYS give 50% profits back to charity. ALWAYS.
Because giving back is just our jam.
