Today I want to talk about the five things others failed to mention about building a 7 figure MLM business.
I went back and forth about blogging about achieving the goal of 7 figure multi-level marketing business owner, but a really good friend and mentor told me that if it answers these three questions, Is it helpful? Is it hopeful? Does it provide healing? Then it is worth sharing.
I hope that whatever purpose it serves for you, helpful, hopeful, or gosh healing in the sense that I truly do get it.I get it, and, from the bottom of my heart, I am rooting for you.

At full discloser I have seen people do this faster. But I assure you, my pace was set through…Focusing on my own weight loss goals. Working full time as a teacher. Pregnancy and raising my babies. A stage 4 battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Quite a few business road blocks and u-turns. Broken down, this achievement has taken about 58, 464 hours.
But the amount of time it took to accomplish, and the actual outcome is irrelevant if the part I am about to share gets left out. So with your permission, I encourage you to take time to read what this achievement has actually taken. And if you too are considering starting a business, scaling your business, or wondering if you’re cut out for your particular business, I think this more than applies. Likewise, if you are already succeeding in your business, there might be a lesson tucked into this post for you as well.
1. You cannot successfully build upon something you don’t believe. Period.
Sell what you love. Share why it matters. The product and the service you provide must mean something MORE than your paycheck.
2. The grass is greener where you water it.
Don’t admire someone for the good/glory/glitz they share, ask them about the grind it takes to get there. Look for the people who will tell you, unapologetically, about the grind. Sustainable success is always greater than overnight success.
3. Luck? Sure. Yes. I’ve seen people get lucky. But I’ve also seen the “lucky” fall hard.
I’ve seen priorities shift. In other words, I’ve seen luck run out. So don’t rely on luck. Luck WILL no doubt, let you down, so will entitlement, so will envy, and so will comparison. Instead, just show up and work when you don’t feel like it and when you failed at it before. When you question if it’s worth it or see someone doing it faster, prettier, shinier…put your blinders on and continue to show up. Chase your cause, not a dangling carrot. Build something you’re so proud of, and keep focusing on those small steps you take daily that NO ONE sees or glorifies. Consistency will never fail you, luck will.
4. Care more about character than competency.
Competency can be learned and googled. Character is an inside job. It doesn’t matter what you know if you aren’t focused on what it will take to personally grow. You will NOT always get it right. People will throw stones. You will get it right. People will still throw stones. Have the courage and the humility to know the difference and OWN both, humbly. Grow and learn from your failures, your shortcomings, and your mistakes as well as your successes. Forgive others. Ask for forgiveness. Move forward into your field, keep going, and stop trying to own someone else’s efforts or lack there of.
You can’t be cynical and curious at the same time.
Get really curious about what’s working, what isn’t, and what you can do to get better. Don’t get cynical. Your competency is hard work, character though, that’s heart work, and because I am a little sassy, I highly encourage you to invest in a really good pair of hater shades. Because when your light is shining bright, you can rest assured that someone is gonna try really hard to put it out. Shine on.
5. Community matters.
Brene Brown says it best: “If you’re not in the arena with me getting your ass kicked, I’m not interested in your feedback.” I am so so, so, cognizant of the company I keep, the way they speak to me, the way they speak of others, the way they challenge me, and the way they make me feel. Community matters, and if you want to create that community, root for others to win. Shout them out! Stand and applaud them.
One more thing: Gratitude changes everything.
Be grateful for who you’re becoming through the process of building a legacy. You can’t put a price on that. Thank you. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this for a season, for a reason, and for the long haul. I’m grateful for you. You matter. Mustard Seed It, always.
