It’s the eve of chemo and like always, I am feeling a little anxious, nervous, and emotional as I embark on a treatment that will lead me one step closer to recovery but not without first enduring some relatively annoying side effects. I’ve found that people are very curious about this, and honestly, I would be too. But I’ve found that most people who have never had cancer hit so close to home really just want to know, “How are you feeling?” The answer: Great. Physically, I feel great. Perhaps even better than before because I am more attuned to my body. Most moments throughout the day, I forget I am even “sick” until, I am reminded with the question, “how are you feeling?”
It sounds crazy, right? How can you forget you have cancer? But the truth is, I make the conscious effort to not let it define me. I actually don’t even really let myself think “it has” me at all. I just keep doing my thing instead of allowing it take over. In fact this week, Mike had to reign me in more than once because I keep making plans without thinking about the treatments scheduled. Talk about inconvenience! But that’s life right? You sometimes just have to take the hit and be willing to get back on your feet and continue punching.
On a more personal note, I’ve decided after a lot of prayer that I am going to try my hardest to tell my story to others in hope that I can inspire others to overcome their own, personal obstacles. So with that being said. I am creating a LIKE PAGE on Facebook that will combine the following elements of my life:
- Faith
- Family
- Friends
- Fitness
- Fun
I am a real mom like so many others who doesn’t want to be defined by an obstacle. Instead I would rather use this little bump in the road as a platform to share how an ordinary life can become an EXTRAORDINARY LIFE.

Last week I made the choice to complete a 90Day Program called P90X3. Yes, cancer knocks me on my butt for about two day. That’s it. On those days I do yoga or rest. So far I am one week in and have not missed a workout. How cool is that!? I decided to keep everything in my life as normal as possible. Working out is the 30 minutes a day I take for myself to do what I know in the long run is making me stronger.
The Workouts This Week Include:
Monday: Total Synergistics
Tuesday: Agility X
Wednesday: Yoga
Thursday: The Challenge
Friday: CVX
Saturday: Dynamix
On a treatment week, I switch my Wednesday workout (yoga) with The Challenge because it fits better with my body’s needs. The challenges I face this week? Less than 60 days until Summit (the coach event in Las Vegas) and summer right around the corner! Oh and again…chemo. Forgot again, dang it!
I also keep my meal plan tapped to the refrigerator, so I can keep myself on track. While completing chemotherapy, I try hard to maintain my weight. It’s not the time to lose weight, so I make sure to get enough calories throughout the day, and I also schedule in one cheat meal a week. Here is a sample of what my meal plan for the week looks like.
You can find my veggie smoothie recipe here.
Remember that no matter what obstacles you face, you are stronger than you know. The best time to start a workout is now! And there is no need to go at it alone. You can have daily support, motivation, tips and recipes . Please fill out the form below to learn more about my next challenge group.
Thanks for all of your support!
